After his debut match in the IPL where he scored 12 runs, Priyam Garg who represents for SunRisers Hyderabad made a stunning performance in his second IPL match on 2nd October. In the middle order, Garg now stands to be the key player in this edition for SRH after scoring a fifty.
It was just an average flow of runs at the Dubai stadium before Garg started hitting the ball strongly in the first innings against Chennai Super Kings. The score was just 69/4 from 11 overs and later came the Meerut teen player.
It was the SRH captain David Warner and the Kiwi’s Kane Williamson who was expected to be stars in the batting line-up. But the pitch conditions and match situations left the duo unfortunate to walk back to the dressing room without scoring hugely.
Besides, India’s U19 World Cup player Garg kept the flow going. It was the 17th over from Sam Curran when Garg changed the whole scenario of the match. While a total of 164 runs were put on board for the Chennai Super Kings, it was 95 runs scored in the last 9 overs by SRH.
Garg has recorded a half-century which is his maiden IPL fifty. And later while CSK got to bat, it was a wonderful run out from Garg that left Faf du Plessis to walk back to the pavilion. The run out turned out to be an important one either.
It was just 36/3 at the end of the first powerplay scored by CSK and they were 44/4 at the half way. The hard hitting from Jadeja and captain MS Dhoni left the match by just a 7 run loss while CSK still remain at the bottom of points table for the time being.
