Omkar Salvi Appointed as RCB’s New Bowling Coach Ahead of IPL 2025
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has announced the appointment of Omkar Salvi as the bowling coach for their men’s team for the upcoming IPL season. Salvi, known for his coaching excellence in the domestic circuit, recently guided the Mumbai senior men’s team to their first Ranji Trophy title in eight years. Under his leadership, Mumbai also clinched the Irani Cup against the Rest of India later in the same year. The 46-year-old further bolstered his credentials as part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coaching staff during their IPL title-winning campaign in 2024, reports Live Cricket Score.
Salvi’s brief experience with KKR marked his only prior stint in the IPL. Now, he has stepped into a significant role at RCB and is ready to begin his tenure after the conclusion of the current Indian domestic season.
RCB Welcomes Salvi to the Coaching Setup
RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, expressed enthusiasm about Salvi’s appointment, seeing it as a strategic move to bolster the team’s chances of securing their maiden IPL title. A robust bowling attack is critical to succeeding in T20 cricket, and Bobat believes Salvi’s inclusion will enhance the franchise’s competitiveness.

Reunion with Dinesh Karthik
Salvi will work alongside Dinesh Karthik, who was recently appointed RCB’s batting coach for the upcoming season. The duo has a history of collaboration, having worked together during Karthik’s time at KKR. Their reunion is expected to bring synergy to RCB’s coaching setup as the team aims to end its long-standing quest for an IPL title.
