RCB officially brings in replacements for Reece Topley and Rajat Patidar

For the remainder of the IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore has signed left-arm fast bowler Wayne Parnell of South Africa (of INR 75 lakh) and seamer Vyshak Vijaykumar of Karnataka (worth INR 20 lakh) as substitute players. Reece Topley and Rajat Patidar were both ruled out for the Faf du Plessis-led team due to injuries to their shoulders and heels, respectively.

With the former Pune Warriors and Delhi Daredevils, Parnell has played in 26 IPL games, but his most recent match came in 2014. He was the first Kolpak player to come out of the cold and be selected for a South Africa squad in November 2021. Later, he was also brought into the team for the T20 World Cup in Australia from the previous year. The 33-year-old took ten wickets from nine games while playing for the Pretoria Capitals in the inaugural SA 20 season, with an economy rate of 7.85.

On the other side, 26-year-old Vyshak hasn’t played in the IPL before but joins after a strong local season. At an economy of 6.31, he took ten wickets from eight Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 matches. His 31 kills from 8 games, at an average of 24.58, made him the joint-highest wicket-taker in Karnataka’s journey to the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals, reports Live Cricket Score.
