India and Bangladesh have been confirmed as the hosts for the next two editions of the Asia Cup, according to the Invitation for Expression of Interest (IEOI) from the Asian Cricket Council for sponsorship rights, reports Live Cricket Score.
India, the most successful team in the competition’s history with eight titles, is the defending champions. They hosted the tournament only once before, back in 1990, when they defeated Sri Lanka in the final.
Since 2016, the tournament has occasionally been played in the T20 format to align with upcoming global tournaments. With a T20 World Cup scheduled for 2026, the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup will also be played in the 20-over format.
Similarly, the 2027 edition, scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, will be played in the ODI format, considering there is a 50-over World Cup in South Africa the same year. Both editions will feature 13 matches each. Apart from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, a sixth participant will be selected through a qualifying tournament.
