Chris Jordan replaces injured Jofra Archer at Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians have signed England speedster Chris Jordan for the remainder of the IPL 2023 season. Jordan has been named as the replacement for Jofra Archer, who “will return home to focus on his rehabilitation,” according to MI, reported by Live Cricket Score.

Archer, who returned to international cricket earlier this year after a lengthy injury layoff, has had a short but eventful season. He was expected to be available for the entire season, and the 28-year-old did play in Mumbai’s first game before being sidelined for the next four games due to elbow soreness. The injury kept him in and out of the starting lineup and forced him to fly to Belgium for minor surgery. Archer will now return to England, where the England and Wales Cricket Board will closely monitor his rehabilitation (ECB).

“Pushing through the discomfort while recently playing, hoping it will settle,” said the ECB in an official press release. “As a result, it has been agreed that he will return to the UK for rest and rehabilitation to give him the best chance of a full recovery.” Archer will return to the United Kingdom this week to continue his rehabilitation with the ECB medical department and Sussex County Cricket Club, respectively.”
