The interesting battle that made the match draw between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals has now become a serious concern. There was a super over later on 20 September, for the first time in the second match of the IPL 13 season.
With all the drama happening at the venue, after DC winning the super over, Kings XI Punjab now lodged a formal complaint on 21 September. A human made error, while umpiring incorrectly, was the complaint summary over Jordan’s short-run decision.
The narrow game put serious concern adding to the wrong decision made by the umpire, when Punjab was chasing the target in the second innings. The square-leg umpire Nitin Menon had signaled Chris Jordan for a short run, with not grounding his bat inside the crease when running between the wickets.
The technology indicated that the umpire’s call for a short run was misjudged. However, the third umpire couldn’t revert back as the decision was already made on-field. This could have been overturned by the TV umpire, in case it could have gone for a review.
Later an appeal was made to Javagal Srinath, the match referee. But there’s no provision of overturning the on-field call.
