Former Maharashtra player Sadashiv Raoji Patil who played a lot of domestic cricket is no more now, and he also played in one Test match for India. Sources told PTI that SR Patil died at his residence in Kolhapur on 15 September (Tuesday).
SR Patil who died at 86, is survived by his wife and two daughters. BCCI has mourned the death of Patil and recollected his cricketing journey. Although he was largely restricted to domestic cricket this medium-pacer had made an instant impact on his first-class debut during 1952-53 seasons, for Maharashtra.
His wonderful performance with the ball against Mumbai restricted the batting team to a score of 112. The previous innings of batting from Maharashtra had a less score of 167. With a match winning figures of 7/74 against New Zealand, Patil never played for India later. The only test match he played for was won with an innings and 27 runs.
