Patidar, Iyer to take treatment in UK

On April 15, 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Rajat Patidar and Shreyas Iyer, two injured Indian cricketers, would get surgery for their individual ailments in the UK. The BCCI would cover the cost of Patidar’s injury, reports Live Cricket Score.

Rajat Patidar was recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) from a heel injury when it was decided he couldn’t play in the current Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). It was decided to send him in for surgery. He is still awaiting his visa documents at home in Indore before travelling to the UK for the treatment. Patidar gained notoriety after scoring a quick century for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2022 playoff game. He then had some outstanding performances in domestic cricket as a result.

Shreyas Iyer will have surgery in the UK the following week, the BCCI announced. Iyer has been battling nerve problems and a bulging disc in his lower back. He missed the home ODI matches against New Zealand earlier this year and the opening two Tests of the Australia series. He participated in the past two Tests but missed the fourth and final Test in Ahmedabad, where India had to field for about 170 overs because of to back injury. Iyer was then recommended for evaluation at the NCA, where back surgery was proposed.
