One of the best innings I have played – Bhanuka Rajapaksa

Bhanuka Rajapaksa, a batsman for Sri Lanka, considered his 71-run innings against Pakistan in the Asia Cup final among his best performances. On Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka was down at 36-3 after 5.1 overs when Rajapaksa entered the game in the middle.

On the other hand, the left-hander batted at the top of his ability and perfectly timed the ball. The left-hander had a fantastic strike rate of 157.78 and scored six fours and three sixes in his ferocious innings. In reality, Sri Lanka was in trouble at 58-5 after 8.5 overs, but Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga added a crucial 58-run partnership. At one point, it appeared Sri Lanka might have problems scoring 150 runs, but Rajapaksa and Hasaranga led their team to safety.

Sri Lanka was under a lot of strain, but Rajapaksa played a pivotal role in helping his team score 170 runs. He was given the Player of the Match award as a result.

Rajapaksa stated in the post-game press conference, “Of sure, it’s a beautiful occasion and one of the best innings that I’ve played in a very short amount of time.”

Sri Lanka, meantime, has always been a force to be reckoned with, although the team has recently faced some challenges. Additionally, the nation has been through a financial crisis. Therefore, Rajapaksa hopes this Asia Cup victory will cheer up his countrymen.
