Shakib Al Hasan: Spinners bowling no balls is a crime

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said spinner bowling no-balls is a crime and that they must improve their death over bowling after losing to Sri Lanka in a thrilling game and being eliminated from the ongoing Asia Cup. With the win over Bangladesh, Sri Lanka won a place in the Super Four.

Mahedi Hasan, a right-arm off-break bowler, produced a no-ball in the match’s final crucial over when Sri Lanka required three runs in four balls. Asitha Fernando of Sri Lanka seized the chance and smacked the ball squarely leg-side. The hitters completed two runs after long-on was too wide, helping their team to a two-wicket victory.

Talking about Mahedi Hasan and the match, Shakib remarked, “He (Mehidy Hasan) has done well in domestic cricket. He handled the pressure nicely. Nobody enjoys watching their team bowl poorly. It is illegal for spinners to bowl no balls. We bowled a lot of wides and no-balls. I believe there was pressure on us. We need to work on that for the world cup. We want to get better gradually.

Sri Lanka maintained composure under duress to eke out a two-wicket victory and advance to the Super Four round of the Asia Cup 2022 in a game that swung back and forth.
