Sanjay Bangar is expected to join the role of batting consultant for red-ball cricket, said Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). While the Bangladesh board management strongly stuck and tried to appoint India’s former batting coach Bangar as the consultant, ahead of Australia tour of Bangladesh test series that starts in June.
Bangar further added that he has signed a contract for 2 years with Star Sports. Hence, BCB hopes were set to disappointment in getting the experienced coach to avail of his services for the team.
Besides, BCB is trying for another option of convincing Neil McKenzie. This South African is currently serving as a consultant for the ODI teams, but BCB is not keen if he wishes to extend his services to the test format.
Bangar’s comments:
“They offered me a position eight weeks ago. But in the interim, I finalized my contract with Star which gave me the opportunity to balance out my personal and professional commitments. However, I look forward to working with BCB in the future,” Bangar was quoted as saying by PTI.
BCB comments:
“McKenzie is looking after the red-ball cricket despite being a white ball consultant and till we get a batting consultant for Test cricket we are expecting him to do the job [in red ball],” Chowdhury added.
