With just 2 days to go for the ODI’s against South Africa, India powers a full package in batting, fielding, and bowling departments. India, who’s hosting this tournament, had few significant players out of the list for the recently completed New Zealand tour.
Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in batting, fielding, and bowling departments respectively were out of the test squad due to injuries that each of them faced on different occasions. The result was 3-0 when the black caps hosted the test matches and the key players were not available. But the BCCI management had recently announced the team for ODI’s that commence shortly, comprising Shikar, Hardik, and Bhuvneshawar.
Shikhar Dhawan returns back after a shoulder injury that took place during the ODIs against Australia this January. The last international match that the all-rounder Hardik Pandya played was in last September before undergoing a back surgery. Bhuvneswar makes a comeback after he was put on-bench due to sports hernia last year. Rohit Sharma still had no place as there might be more time to recover from his calf injury that occurred in the New Zealand tour last month.
